Food Safety Officer (FSO) Under Food Safety And Standards Act, 2006

A food safety officers is appointed by the commissioner of food safety or such local areas as he may assign to them for the purpose of performing functions under this act and the rules and regulations made thereunder.

Liability Of The Food Safety Officer In India

The FSO shall be liable to a penalty which may extend up to one lakh rupee if he /she is found to be guilty of an offence mentioned under section 39 of the act. Provided that in case the complaint made against the fFSO is false, the complainant shall be punishable with fine which shall not be less than fifty thousand rupees and may extend to one lakh rupees

Can Enforcement Action Be Taken Against The Food Safety Officer For Not Fulfilling His Role In India

Enforcement action can be initiated against the food safety officer (FSO) and shall be liable to a penalty which may extend up to one lakh rupee if he /she is found to be guilty of an offence mentioned under section 39 of the act.

Provided that in case the complaint made against the FSO is false, the complainant shall be punishable with fine which shall not be less than fifty thousand rupees and may extend to one lakh rupees
